Austin interviewing with the Bengals for the DC position.
I don't think Austin will be back with the Lions.
Probably not by choice.
They did block him from interviewing for Packers DC.
Don't blame them, he would know all our schemes and personnel weaknesses. Especially, if they plan to keep Cooter for OC.
Didn't the Packers block us from interviewing Eliot Wolf?
Nope, I heard the interview happened.
So we've established that defenses need good players in order to be good.
Real brilliant guys.
And crennel, and weiss, and mangini
Does al Groh count? Does saban count? Are O'Brien and Schwartz any good?
I still like Schwartz but yeah a lot of former assistants have failed as HCs.
Good coordinator, terrible HC.
Great DC, was on ok HC. I don’t know why we have to go so far to extremes.
I think Schwartz will do well in his next HC job.
Looks like Austin is heading to Cincy to take over their D.
I thought for sure Marvin Lewis would go after Jack Del Rio as DC, because of their history together at Baltimore.
I wonder if Austin to Cinnci is based on grooming Austin for Lewis moving into the front office in two years.
John Gruden is now after Austin to coach defensive backs and as Assistant Head Coach.
Austin officially takes the Bengals DC job.
Certainly can't blame him for bolting, even in a lateral move, as he had probably a 10% chance of staying with the new coach.
I don't think we were patient enough with him and Mayhew. For all the love Quinn has gotten it was them that righted the ship.
I would love to see what they could do without lewand around.
I agree. No one was going to be a great HC with miller and mayhew as GM
Schwartz' teams were romper-room compared to Caldwell. Totally unprepared. Undisciplined, unprofessional, overly-emotional. Stafford not very well coached.
Schwartz and Caldwell were both casualties of Mayhew's monumentally disastrous team building.
Schwartz is arrogant and doesn't instill discipline. Not a leader. I don't see him as anything but a good defensive coordinator.
At this point, it doesn't matter who we hire now, in a year or two we will be calling for that coaches head, Quinns head and hopefully arguing for new ownership cause let's be frank here, things have been constant in one area since 57. The Ford's own the team.
but now its a firestone....
Separate names with a comma.
